Services - Quilting Service

Since every quilt is different, the cost of quilting will vary. The quilting fee will be based on how large your quilt top is and the kind of quilting you wish done on it. If this is a quilt that will be heavily used, such as a child's quilt, I highly recommend an Edge-To-Edge quilting treatment as it is the sturdiest type of quilting. Ornamental pieces or those that will be gently used can benefit from custom quilting that can truly bring out the details of your piecing.

As my client, you will provide me with your quilt top and quilt backing. Please print and review these guidelines for preparing your quilt top and backing for machine quilting. Together we will choose the thread color and quilting treatment for your quilt. We can meet in person (if you're local) or we can discuss options on the phone or by email... it's your choice.

I prefer to provide my own batting unless you have a specific one you want used in your quilt. I will not accept Mountain Mist batting, I haven't had very good luck with it. The batting I keep in stock is Quilter's Dream Blend, 70% cotton / 30% polyester. It is a mid-loft batting that has a beautiful drape, a soft hand, and extra durability. Quilter's Dream also offers 100% cotton batting, 100% polyester batting (in white or black), wool batting, silk blend batting, and recycled polyester batting (made from soda bottles!), to name a few. These battings would have to be special ordered, so please keep this delay in consideration.

My quilting thread is from Superior Threads, their quality is fantastic and their colors are amazing. Primarily I use their King Tut line of 100% cotton quilting thread (both solid and variegated varieties), though if you have a special project that needs some extra pizazz, they do also offer many decorative threads including color-changing thread, glow-in-the-dark thread, glittery thread... So many choices! These decorative threads would have to be special ordered, so please keep this delay in consideration.

Basting for Hand Quilting I will baste every 4" across your quilt using a contrasting thread color (my choice). Price includes thread, does not include batting (if you choose to use my batting).	$0.01 per square inch
Binding Provide me 1 yard of fabric. I will prepare straight-grain binding from this fabric, and will sew it to the quilt by machine. It will be ready for you to hand hem to the back.	$0.15 per linear inch
