Clue #1

From your cream fabric and your red fabric, cut 8 squares 4" x 4" from each color. On the back of each cream square, draw a line along one diagonal.

Pair together one red and one cream square, placing them right sides together. Sew ¼" on either side of the diagonal line drawn on the cream square. Cut along the drawn line to yield two units. Press towards the red, then square each HST to 3½" x 3½". You will have made 16 HST.

From your cream fabric, cut 4 squares 3½" x 3½". Set these aside for later.
