Mystery Quilt #4
Clue #3
From both your Medium fabric and your Border fabric, cut 1 strip of each measuring 2½" x 21". Sew together the strips
along a long edge, to make a strip set as shown. Cut the strip set into 2½" sections as shown. You will cut 8
sections.
Pair together two sections from the previous step to create a Four-Patch as shown. You will create a total of 4 Four-Patches.
Set aside for later.
Using 18 of the Dark #1 squares you cut in Clue #1 and 18 of the Light/Dark #1 HST you made in Clue #2, sew them together
with the following orientation. You will have 18 "Dark #1 Left" units as shown.
Using the remaining 18 Dark #1 squares you cut in Clue #1 and the remaining Light/Dark #1 HST you made in Clue #2, sew
them together with the following orientation. You will have 18 "Dark #1 Right" units as shown.
Using 18 of the Dark #2 squares you cut in Clue #1 and 18 of the Light/Dark #2 HST you made in Clue #2, sew them together
with the following orientation. You will have 18 "Dark #2 Left" units as shown.
Using the remaining 18 Dark #2 squares you cut in Clue #1 and the remaining Light/Dark #2 HST you made in Clue #2, sew
them together with the following orientation. You will have 18 "Dark #2 Right" units as shown.
From your Border fabric, cut 5 strips measuring 4½" x WOF. Trim off selvages. Cut one of the strips into four sections
roughly 10" long each (basically, cut the strip into 4 equal sections), then sew one of these sections to the end of each of
the remaining 4 strips. Finally, trim each strip to 44½" long. You will have four border strips when this step is
completed. Set these aside for later.
That's all for clue #3! Stay tuned for Clue #4...
